Our Objectives

TCSS Internship Program welcomes those from all academic backgrounds and disciplines. We are dedicated to making this experience as unique as possible. As an intern, you will be working closely with our team, developing worldwide networks with well-known experts, experiencing cross-cultural exchange, increasing industry knowledge, and giving guidance through the course of the internship program.

Internship Duties & Responsibilities

Interns will have the opportunity to engage with distinguished experts, scholars, and retired policymakers with backgrounds in national security, global governance, Asian security policy, and more. While scheduling is flexible, interns are required to commit to a minimum of 12 hours per week for 12 to 15 weeks to fulfill the internship program requirements. Upon completing the program, interns will be provided with a certificate of completion by the director of TCSS. Please note that this internship program is conducted in person. We currently do not offer any online or remote internships.

  • Assisting with producing promotional and informative materials such as explainers, podcast episodes, and commentaries
  • Brainstorm and draft content for social media posts
  • Manage web platforms and social media channels
  • Assist in cutting-edge research on regional and global security issues
  • Co-organize events, discussions, and webinars with key policy leaders and stakeholders
  • Perform clerical duties such as taking notes, managing files, and other administrative tasks
  • Commit to a minimum of 12 to 15 weeks and 12 to 15 work hours per week
  • Sign the internship code of conduct and non-disclosure agreement upon the official start date
  • Fulfill tasks and responsibilities outlined in the code of conduct and set out by supervisors
  • Submit an internship report upon completion of the internship program

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong interest in Taiwan’s security issues and international affairs
  • Currently enrolled in their third year or fourth year of study in a Bachelor’s program OR a Master’s or Doctoral Degree program
  • Written and Spoken English Fluency or certified proficiency from one of the following:
    • Common European Framework – B2 or above
    • IELTS – 5.5 or above
    • TOEFL – 94 or above
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Previous editorial and or policy memo writing experience
  • Capable of conducting independent analytical and academic research
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Mandarin proficiency is a plus
  • Second and or third language abilities, especially those from East and Southeast Asia
  • Background in Political Science, International Relations, International Law, Global Studies, and or Economics
  • Proficiency with various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Linkedin, etc.)
  • Graphic design skills such as Canva, Figma, and Adobe Suite or other software
  • Photography, videography, and editing experience
