From the editors,

The security situation in the Indo-Pacific region, and indeed the world, continues to be marked by increasing tensions. Russia’s war in Ukraine continues unabated, even as the Israel-Hamas war grows to encompass other Iranian proxies, and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria promises only further global instability as we move into the new year. This is surely to be exacerbated as we embark upon a second Trump administration in Washington. In this issue, we examine a number of topics of direct relevance to observers of the region’s security situation.

North Korea soldiers face meatgrinder in Ukraine / Dean Karalekas

Assessing BRI motives in the Middle East and Africa / Anderson Weng

Taiwan’s Backing of Israel after Hamas attack / Mor Sobol

The wider impacts of a quarantine of Taiwan / Chen Shuai-hsien

Philippine politics and SCS conflict management / Aaron Jed Rabena

We hope you enjoy this issue, and that our voerage helps to make sense of current geopolitical realities. We look forward to bringing you the finest analysis and reporting on theissues of importance to security in the Taiwan Strait and the Asia-Pacific region.
