Michael I. Ugwueze holds a Ph.D in Political Science from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where he has been lecturing and supervising both graduate and undergraduate students for over ten years. Ugwueze specializes in International Relations and his research interests span the frontiers of security, conflict, peace and development studies. He has published extensively in these areas in both renowned local and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as books of reading. Dr Ugwueze’s publications have appeared in such journals like Security, Society, Review of African Political Economy, Journal of Church and State, Transportation Security, Civil Wars, and Journal of Asian and African Studies, among others. His current research as a Visiting Scholar in the Taiwan Center for Security Studies, National Chengchi University revolves around China’s Vision 2035 and its implication for continued Taiwan sovereign statehood. This research prods into the future to understand China’s soft power approach aimed at decapitating Taiwan of its foreign allies and international recognition while helping the People’s Republic of China (PRC) achieve its national interest of becoming the global economic and hi-tech powerhouse.
