Franz Jessen is a MOFA Fellow at the Center for Strategic Studies, where he is focussing on the issues of decoupling and derisking.

Franz holds a Ph.D. in economics, from The Center for the Study of Public Choice, Virginia Tech. where he studied under Professor Buchanan and Tullock.

After a brief academic career, he moved to work for the EU Institutions focussing on political and trade relations between East Asia and the EU. He has been posted to Japan, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. In Vietnam and the Philippines he served as the EU Ambassador.
